Aberfeldy 16-Year-Old is a classic fruity Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky that is wisely crafted then matured in oak casks and is respected for its rare honeyed notes. 

Recognized as ‘The Golden Dram,’ Aberfeldy 16 is a lusciously smooth and full-bodied honeyed dram with touches of vanilla, spices, and an intimation of smoke. 

This is a Whisky with notes of respiring citrus, honey, and spicy cloves; sherried and filled like fruitcake, then bits of opulent dark chocolate and a relaxing finish; best served neat, over ice, or with a droplet of water.

Aberfeldy Single Malt Whisky has been distilled in the hills of the Central Highlands of Scotland since 1898; the distillery was established by the two Dewar brothers – Tommy and John Alexander.

Well-known for turning barley into molten gold, Aberfeldy has been rewarded over 150 gold medals; Aberfeldy Malt Whisky makes the ideal gift for any Whisky fan. 

The aromatic notes are elegantly honeyed on the nose, with powerful floral notes. You can try a little while ago, very lovely indeed, and very close to the Wemyss Malts single cask. However, old-fashioned roses – and deeply so, almost to the point of being a wax candle interpretation of that fragrance. It also has beeswax table polish, cider – mead, perhaps.

In the mouth, it gives an abundance of flavor for the ABV. It has all the fresh fruit rather than dried fruits. Almost like a creamy fruit cocktail, from the packed box and soaked in syrup. That battles with a robust malted quality – much similar to malted milk biscuits, these are buttered toast. Moreover, it has apricots, stewed apples, and honey again – a lot more now. 

Usually, it is well-balanced, though there’s just a dash of light bitterness on the finish that stops it from being delightful. It recalls me of the hostility you sometimes find in orange marmalade: just a nice jammy, late-summer whisky.
