Description:

An outstanding 19-year-old single-malt Scotch whiskey that was finished in a barrel of oloroso sherry and bottled at 46% ABV at the Glencadam distillery in Scotland's Highland area without any extra coloring or chill filtering. A 6,000-bottle limited edition release.

Instead of being a sherry blast, the fragrance starts off malty. There are undertones of apricot, golden raisins, mouthwatering oranges, and tart plums. A little contemporary oak (hints of coconut and potpourri). Later come hazelnuts and light mocha.

Visions of raisins, farm fruits, and still-juicy fruit cake are evoked by the flavors in the mouth. The spices are now more noticeable (pepper, clove). There are hints of leather mixed with an odd, woodsy smell that has a hint of harshness.

A medium flavor profile with ginger, acidic fruits, and some green wood makes up the beverage's finish.

It's still really tasty; fortunately, there is also a good green oak side. There is a wonderful sweet-sour fruitiness. The Glencadam 21-Year-Old, which is also less expensive, is still my favorite.
