The most recent company to introduce rye whiskey in this country is Woodford Reserve Rye. The Jack Daniel's Rye arrived on our shores in 2021 and starting in May 2022, the selection will be much more varied. The exquisite Distiller's Select and Double Oaked bourbon releases from Woodford Reserve are highly known and frequently appear on the social media feed. The distillery is located in Kentucky's Woodford County. Elijah Pepper was the first to start distilling on the property, and the area has a long history dating back to 1812.The location and distillery underwent a number of ownership changes during the ensuing years before being sold to the Brown-Forman Corporation. The third permanent addition to the primary line of the brand was introduced in 2015 with the release of the Woodford Reserve Rye whiskey. Woodford Reserve Rye pays respect to the first rye whiskeys in history by utilizing a pre-prohibition type rye ratio. The rye content is somewhat more than the required minimum of 51% for straight rye. There are 53% rye, 33% corn, and 14% malt in the Woodford Reserve Rye mash bill. Compared to Jack Daniel's Rye, which has a mash bill of 70% rye, 16% maize, and 12% malted barley, it has a somewhat high corn ration. A NAS release it is.The beverage's colour is gleaming copper On the nose, Toasty wood, cereal, and fresh, green orchid fruit. Black pepper undertones, along with the classic rye spice flavors. Delicate and elegant. On the palate, black pepper, fresh fruit, and rye spices are combined. Hints of buttercream, whiskey vanilla, and caramel. Roasted oak, fresh herbs, and orange pieces. Oily and silky with a medium body. The rye spice overtones are mellowed by water, yet it is still wonderful without it. Although not the most robust rye, this one achieves an excellent balance between rye spiciness and sweet fruity aromas. When it comes to the finish, it is essentially Medium length with peppery, oaky flavours and caramelized sweetness. In the distance, there is something green.Although it is not the most flavorful or sophisticated whiskey, this rye whiskey is nonetheless very palatable. Softer and more inviting than the Mitchters Rye or the Sazerac. It's fantastic, and we believe the sweeter South African taste will love it. The rye aromas and the sweet fruity components are superbly balanced.
